Borowick photographed her mother’s whole experience with breast cancer with tenderness and care. She pays particular attention to the way the disease affected her sense of identity. In this photograph, her mother embraces Borowick's dad, who was also undergoing treatment for pancreatic cancer at the time. As the disease stripped so much away, Borowick focused on what continued to bring her mother joy, especially her family.
