The image was taken at Müller-Brunke’s former school in South Africa and is part of the “Pink Sock Project,” an initiative started by a schoolgirl to raise funds for cancer research. Using pink, a color widely associated with breast cancer awareness, the project shows how young people can take part in fundraising and collective action. Their decision to contribute their own pocket money becomes a hopeful expression of solidarity and care.
Daniela Müller-Brunke's work is very much influenced by growing up in Africa and traveling extensively as a child. She often sees beauty in the ordinary, striving to find a balance between her roots and the world of fashion.
