This poster features a work from Matjaž Tančič’s series Mars on Earth, showing a student simulating an emergency exercise in Los Angeles during a space medicine workshop led by Dr. Susan Ip-Jewell. Some of Dr. Ip-Jewell’s workshops even take place in the Himalayas, where participants perform tasks under high-altitude conditions to mirror the challenges of space environments.
Matjaž Tančič (b. 1982) is a photographic artist working between China and Slovenia. His practice bridges documentary, portrait, and art photography to explore social and cultural issues, often pushing the boundaries of the medium. Known for his innovative 3D stereography projects, Tančič experiments with new forms to expand how photography can tell stories.
This work is part of Fotografiska’s exhibition Space - A Visual Journey (2024), where artistic expression meets scientific discovery. Featuring 13 internationally acclaimed photographers, the exhibition examines humanity’s enduring curiosity about the cosmos and our place within it.
