During Tom’s lifetime, homosexuality was criminalised and classified as a mental disorder in Finland. Even a century after his birth, parts of society still seek to suppress same-sex desire. This notebook stands as a tribute to the light that photography pursues, a reminder to use art to lift the darkness cast by such forces.
