Chinese artist Liu Bolin (b. 1973) is internationally recognized as “The Invisible Man” for his photographic works in which he camouflages himself and nearly disappears into the background. His acclaimed series Hiding in the City began as a protest after his studio was demolished by Chinese authorities and has since evolved into a powerful commentary on censorship, visibility, and the individual’s place in society.
Liu Bolin’s works have been exhibited worldwide and are represented in several major collections. With meticulous precision, he creates images that balance between presence and invisibility, challenging the viewer’s gaze and perception.
