For over 40 years, Ragnar Axelsson (b. 1958) has photographed people, animals, and landscapes across the most remote parts of the Arctic, including Iceland, Siberia, and Greenland. His expressive monochrome images reflect the elemental human experience of nature at the edge of the habitable world, revealing extraordinary relationships between Arctic communities and their harsh environment, connections now being profoundly reshaped by unprecedented climate change.
The work was part of the Prix Pictet exhibition at Fotografiska Stockholm, 2024.
