This poster features a photograph from Matjaž Tančič’s celebrated series Mars on Earth. The image captures a visitor in a space suit standing beside C-Space, a Mars simulation base located in the Gobi Desert, about 40 km from Jinchang in China’s northwestern Gansu province.
Matjaž Tančič (b. 1982) is a photographic artist working between China and Slovenia. His practice explores the boundaries between documentary, portrait, and art photography, often engaging with pressing social and cultural issues. Known for his experimental approach, Tančič is widely recognized for his pioneering 3D stereography projects.
This work is part of Fotografiska’s exhibition Space - A Visual Journey (2024), where artistic expression meets scientific discovery. Featuring 13 internationally acclaimed photographers, the exhibition reflects humanity’s timeless fascination with the cosmos, our curiosity to explore the unknown, and the eternal questions of who we are and where we belong in the vast universe.
