Description
Bosnian Girl, 2003 Poster by Šejla Kamerić
This work is created by Šejla Kamerić, an internationally acclaimed visual artist working across film, photography, installation, and drawing. Her practice is defined by a deeply personal and socially engaged voice, exploring identity, memory, and women’s experiences through both individual and collective narratives.
The motif is part of the exhibition EX YOU at Fotografiska Stockholm. Through her characteristically raw and vulnerable expression, Kamerić examines the politics of memory, the everyday forms of resistance, and the ongoing struggle for women’s rights, themes shaped by her upbringing in the former Yugoslavia and the lasting impact of war.
Kamerić’s work is represented in several major international collections, including Tate Modern in London, MACBA in Barcelona, Arter in Istanbul, and MMCA in Seoul. Her art has also been exhibited at institutions such as MUMOK in Vienna, Centre Pompidou in Paris, Portikus in Frankfurt, and The Phillips Collection in Washington, D.C.
